I haven't done one of these for Carter in a long time, but felt that with everything he is doing right now, I'm probably going to want to record it. :) He says/does some of the cutest things (and some things that drive me batty, but that's toddler life, RIGHT?), and they tell me at daycare he is so smart that it is sometimes baffling, so I know I want memories of it.
So, without further adieu, Mr. Carter, here is what you are up to at 22 months!
You:
- Talk all the time and say (or at least try to say) anything we ask you to. And you remember it too! I couldn't even begin to write down everything you say because it would take up the whole post, but you amaze me all the time with how many words you say!
- Love repetition, hence why we read the same books 20 times a day. :) But you like the same tower built and you play with certain toys the same way.
- Say that you are going to have a "shish-er" and her name is "Addison" (though it comes out as Ad-ins or Addy, which is funny, since we've never shortened it for you).
- Talk about Pa all the time!
- Weigh around 34 pounds, though your next official appointment isn't until May. You still wear 24 months or 2T clothes, though, which makes mommy very happy because that means we'll be able to get through this entire season without buying new!! You wear a size 7 shoe, and a size 5 diaper (size 6 at night).
- Have peed and pooped on the potty a few times, but it is always out of the blue and so random. A few days ago, you were in the shower and said you had to pee and go got out and WENT! Way to tell us, buddy!! I can't wait to buy tiny little underwear. :)
- LOVE to play outside. We cannot wait until springtime officially arrives and we can play outside every single day!
- Continue to do so well at "cool" (school) and are such a sweetie, so I hear. You nap about 2 hours a day there (sometimes less at home, stinker).
- Also continue to wake up at the crack of dawn--sometimes as early as 5:15!! This weekend, though, you did great, getting up at 7 and 7:30. Mommy is sort of looking forward to daylight savings time, I'm not going to lie (though this probably means going down at night will be that much worse). Speaking of sleep, you seem to be terrified to go in your crib the past few nights, so mommy has had to rock you. Last night, you slept on your toddler bed mattress on the floor and did really well. Think the crib may be going bye-bye. :(
- Can put your own jacket on!!! Your teachers taught you this at school one day and now you are Mr. Independent about it. It is absolutely adorable. You can also take off your pants (for the most part) and socks. We're working on the shirt. You have the taking-off-the-diaper pretty down pat too.
- Say "lub ew" when mommy leaves you at daycare and run right to hang out with your friends and eat breakfast.
- LOVE Bentley and call him "Bubba" all the time. You pet him, climb on him, share your snacks, want to give him bones, and generally just love on him. When we give Bentley a treat, we make him wait until we say "Free" and you started doing that recently too -- you point to the floor where the treat is and say "FREE!" over and over until he gets it (sometimes, you aren't as clear to understand, so he's making sure he's hearing correctly). haha
- Know how to stall in many situations ("more books," a "moo-bie" (movie), "nack" (snack), "milk").
- Love all things fire trucks, ambulance, diggers, trains, bulldozers, tractors, etc. You are ALL BOY in this aspect, and anytime we see these things while driving, we need to drive past it to make sure you don't go crazy!!
- LOVE to watch Baby Einstein (you are so fascinated by all the moving toys, etc.), Veggie Tales, Mickey, and Chuggington (a train TV show) and dance when any of their theme songs come on!
- Still love that darn paci. I knew we should have broken it at 15 months when the pediatrician told us that you'd soon be "obsessed" because that's how it works as you get older. We ignored her, and now you LOVE the thing. Oh well, one disastrous transition at a time, right love? :)
You are a sweet, albeit feisty, little boy, and we couldn't possibly love you more. You do keep many hair color companies in business, though, because somewhere under mommy's fake blonde hair is a whole lotta gray! I don't have too many complaints other than the sleeping, and if we could figure that out in the next 3 or so months, mommy and daddy would greatly appreciate it. We love you, dude. :)
