That's a wrap on sports for the spring!

...and that's a WRAP! We had a fun (and semi-exhausting) sports season this year. Carter played baseball and Addison played soccer. Luckily, there weren't very many times that their schedules overlapped. This was Addison's first year of any sport, and we were really surprised by her. She hustled and was super aggressive. Carter had an awesome season of baseball, too. He earned the game ball (shown below) during one of the games for some seriously awesome hits and catches. Here are some pictures of them throughout the season. After each game, Addison holds up fingers for the number of goals she scored because Gramma and Pa pay her for each goal. ;)
We're so proud of these kids!

Carter's first time playing soccer

Well, soccer is just about coming to an end...Carter has one more game on November 4, and then his first season is in the books. I've got to say: soccer is FUN to watch, and I thoroughly enjoyed being soccer mom (and Seth enjoyed being soccer dad) this season. He did SO well for his very first time playing; we were really impressed, actually. He was aggressive, really practiced his footwork, and developed some serious stamina. After each game, we take a picture with him holding up fingers for how many goals he scored. Gramma and Pa pay him $2 per goal, so he has to make sure to get that in the books. Plus, Gramma saves the pictures too. Here are a few of his game day pics. They're not all in the post, but you can tell he had a great time!

I actually really can't wait until the next soccer season! (Addison says she's playing, too, so I'll be a REAL soccer mom then. Good thing I already have the minivan to play the part!)

Addison takes gymnastics!

Addison has desperately been wanting to take dance class, but the classes around here are all held during the day when I'm working, or fill up too fast to grab a spot. I did manage to find a studio that we could get into but the dance "season" is a full academic year...and that's a no from us. That's too long for a five year old. SO we did some digging and found out that our local Parks & Rec department does 8-week dance classes for little kids. Unfortunately, we missed the cut off for that for the fall, but they had gymnastics so we signed her up. She was THRILLED. The class meets once a week for 45 minutes and it is just perfect. Here she is in all her sweet, excited glory. She's having a blast! :)

Let's play ball!

Well, it's time. He's no longer my little baby. In fact, he's registered for kindergarten and is now a baseball player, too. (Hold me.)

He's on the young side for t-ball, but they made an exception because he only missed the birthday cutoff by a few days. His team is the "Fire Rocks." This league focuses heavily on teaching the game and making it fun, so there isn't a whole lot of skill yet. They can't really catch, throw or hit...but they're learning and working on it. Already since opening day--which was April 11--I've seen some improvement.

Here's our sweet #7! He's our favorite player! :)

Their season is actually semi-intense. They have a lot of games for little kids. This week alone, there are three! Can't wait to see how much my little Fire Rock grows in his baseball skills. GOOOO, Carter!!

Soccer

The time has finally come for Carter to play "sports." We signed him up for Soccer Shots, a program designed to teach kids the basic skills of soccer and give them a little bit of "play time." It's an 8-week program on Saturday mornings for just 45 minutes, so it's a good, simple (and manageable) first athletic experience.

He really likes it and gets into it. Here are a few pictures from his first day on September 20. Even Oma and Opa were able to be there for the first day of soccer!

Does this make me a soccer mom?!? ;)
