Homemade Clorox Anywhere Spray

If you're like me (or you have a messy toddler), you are probably familiar with Clorox Anywhere spray. I've been using this pretty much since the day it came out and absolutely love it. It has the cleaning power of Clorox but is gentle enough to go around babies, pets, food, etc.

We go through this stuff like it's water - which, ironically enough, it pretty much is (it's like 97% water or something crazy like that!). At $3.29 a pop, we were dropping quite a bit on this stuff. AND THEN. A light bulb went off and I was like um, hello Danielle?? Chances are you can make this for way less. I did about .2 seconds of research and found an organic chemist's recipe for the stuff.

It's highly scientific so get out your calculator.

Take the empty 22-oz. bottle of Clorox Anywhere (or any 22 oz. bottle). Add 1/4 teaspoon of clorox, and fill 'er up the rest of the way with water.

SERIOUSLY.

I am in love. And richer. ONE QUARTER OF A TEASPOON!?!? It is seriously pretty much free, since I got the entire HUGE thing of Clorox for only $1 and it will take me a LOOOONG time to go through that 1/4 teaspoon at a time. It works exactly the same, smells exactly the same, and doesn't take color out of materials - I tested it on a blue cloth. It's meant for hard surfaces though, so I wouldn't spray it on material anyway, but I had to do my test.

Anyway, that's my money saving tip for today. I am shocked. And in awe. And pumped I found the recipe online and will never have to buy the stuff again. (No offense, Clorox).

Saving Money

I'm not big on clipping coupons. I wish I was, because I have read so many stories of people paying practically nothing for their groceries because of them.

One day in my blog reading, I stumbled across a Website/blog written by a 25-year-old woman who is devoted to saving money and living well within her family's means. The Web site is
http://www.moneysavingmom.com/. It started as a perusal, but now I have to admit that I am somewhat obsessed with the site.

There is a lot of confusing stuff on there, like how to use the Extra Care Bucks (ECB's) at CVS to pay pennies for your products. But, frankly, even trying to figure out what she is saying gives me a migraine.

I focus more on the little freebies she talks about. And, I kid you not, Seth and I have gotten gobs of free stuff from this site (she finds all these offers because thousands of people e-mail them into her and then she publishes them all online for us!).

So far, I have gotten Seth and I (everything is absolutely free and brand new by the way) 2 sets of Panasonic iPod headphones, 2 BellSouth walkie talkies, 2 magazine subscriptions (a home decor magazine and Woman's Day), shampoo, razors, cake mixes, free Starbucks, Ben and Jerry's, a cutting board...YOU NAME IT!

And I know what you're thinking. No, to answer your question, I do not get any junkmail in my e-mail or mailbox from this (they can't fool me: I work in marketing and I know how it all works!) *hint: if you sign up for any free stuff, always look for the little box that says "Yes, I'd like to receive additional communication from xxx" -- uncheck that!

You should check it out - I'm sure you'll love it too! Let me know what you think about it!

Oh, and Happy Birthday, Matt! Hope you had a good day!!
