Carter-isms

I feel like every few weeks, I need to write an update with the new (and often hilarious) things Carter has been saying and/or doing. The last few weeks have been no exception. The kid is just so funny!

Yesterday, I was home with both sick kids (pink eye for both with nasty coughs) and he was once again vacuuming our house. It's his new thing ever since he realized that the really long handle shortens down to his exact height. He was concentrating heavily on his vacuuming and then suddenly turned it off, slyly walked up to me and said "Mama? Are you nervous about Christmas?" I seriously could not stop laughing (and am also completely unsure of what to make of this.)

Yesterday was also my dad's birthday so while we were outside playing, we decided to call him at work to wish him a happy birthday. I gave Carter the phone and told him that when he heard Pa answer to say "Happy birthday, Pa!". He listened intently and when my dad answered, Carter said "Hi Pa. My mower is out of gas." !?!?!?! Again, dying laughing.

He also has this little quirk where hair--namely my long, blonde, ones but any hair in general--are called "ties." I have no idea where this came from, but he has developed a new fear/aversion to all "ties", especially loose ones that are on his clothes. One night, he was frantically smacking his arms and legs saying/crying "There are ties EVERYWHERE!!!" It took me forever to convince him that those ties BELONG on his arms and legs.

We've been really working with him on what it means to obey, so often times when we are heading out somewhere or where we anticipate disobedience, we go over what it means to obey. The very first time we asked him this, he said obey means "to be nice." We asked him what else it meant, and he always proceeds to tell us it means "don't be sassy" and "be nice." We're still working on the "listen to mommy and daddy" part, but he's getting there. :) We LOVED the "don't be sassy" part--cracked us up!

He is dramatic, intense, loud (oh, so loud), loves dirt but cannot stand to keep his shirt on if something spills on it, and ALL. BOY. He's teaching me so much about patience and little boys in general and I just love it. He's so cute I sometimes can't stand it and smooch his little cheeks like he's still my infant. :) And...I sort of die when he calls Addison "pretty little girl." Precious.

Addison: Ten Months

Addison,
At ten months old, you:
- Probably weigh somewhere around 22 pounds...we have your ear follow up on Wednesday so maybe we'll get an 'official' weight then!
- Are in size 3 daytime diapers and size 4 overnight diapers, but about to go to size 4s all around.
- Still wear a mix of 9 and 12 month clothing, though I'd say it's mostly 12. You do wear a few 18 month leggings because otherwise they are so stinkin' tight! Not sure what these girl clothing designers are thinking?!?! You are also still rocking many of your 6 month dresses as tops now!

- Are still napping well at daycare, and take two decent naps or one really good one at home, which we are okay with as long as it is the same time as your brother's nap. :)

- Got your top right middle tooth on March 30.
- Started crawling on March 29...it was at school but ironically enough, mommy and daddy BOTH dropped you off that day and got to see it. YAY!
- Had ear tubes surgery on March 20. Since then, you've been on drops quite a bit. The doctors say the drainage means the tubes are working, so hopefully they are right.

- Are FINALLY back to sleeping through the night consistently. Thank you tubes (and teeth popping through, etc.)
- Are officially broken of the paci! WOO HOOOO!
- Eat exclusively table food and love it. You eat anything we eat except nuts, fish, uncooked strawberries and eggs, though I'm starting eggs soon.

- Do drink more formula than you were a few weeks ago but you still much prefer food over formula.
- Do pretty well with a sippy cup! We're hoping to break the bottle by age 1 since you do so well with it!
- Pull up on EVERYTHING and shimmy along furniture. I think you're crawling stage might be short-lived and we'll be doomed soon. :)
- Started fussing again when we put you in the car seat. Ugh.
- Have enough hair for a little ponytail on the top of your head. I haven't done it yet, but oh, I will.
- Celebrated your first Easter with mommy's family and with daddy's family in NJ.
- Have separation anxiety pretty good. That stage will pass all too soon, if I recall.
- Have the most precious little scrunchy face ever (see previous post).

We love you so much, pretty girl. You are such a little doll baby and I can't believe how fast you are growing up.

The Easter Recap

I know, I know. I'm behind. We have been busy with the holidays, me in Las Vegas for work, doing spring yard work, etc.

On Palm Sunday, we hosted my side of the family for our Easter celebration since we would be in NJ for Easter and my sister's family would be in NY with Jason's family. We had prime rib - butchered just that week from one of my dad's black angus and many other yummy things.

The required post-church photos. I seriously loved how sweet they were to each other in all the pictures!

With Gramma and Pa!

We did Easter baskets on this day so that we didn't have to take them all the way to NJ.

Time for the egg hunt. Needless to say, they were VERY excited. They could hardly wait as we hid them!

We painted eggs too, and thankfully, he had a BLAST this year!

The next weekend, we went to NJ! On Saturday, I got a pedicure (heaven...and CHEAP in NJ!) and then we took the kids to meet Ben, Salli, and the kids for their town's egg hunt. It was really busy but was a gorgeous day and the kids had a blast!

Oma got supplies to color eggs with Carter and he was very happy to do this again. They turned out so pretty.

On Easter morning, we went to church and then had a delicious brunch. And, AGAIN, we had to do those most-precious photos. I can't stand the cuteness. :)

Oma and Opa with most of the grandkids! We missed Logan, Emily, and Cooper!

All in all, we had a most blessed Easter and had fun relaxing and spending time with family and friends.
